Memyx Privacy Policy
Thank you for taking part in the Memyx beta. Memyx is a desktop workspace that keeps your data on your own computer, with an AI assistant that helps you organise projects, to-dos, notes and events. This policy explains what data we collect during the beta, why we need it, and how you can exercise your rights.
We aim to collect as little as possible: what we need during the beta is mainly the data from your interactions with the AI assistant and the logs the app produces while it runs. We kindly ask you to read this before you begin.
1. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access to our servers is limited to team members. We make reasonable efforts to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. The security of data kept on your computer also depends on the protection of the device itself.
2. Children
The Memyx beta is not intended for children under 14. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
3. How we use data
- To provide the AI assistant: passing your request to a large language model service and returning its reply.
- To investigate and fix problems and improve the product: reproducing cases where the AI misunderstood or went wrong, and adjusting accordingly. We may also turn excerpts, with identifying information removed, into internal test cases.
- To keep the service secure and stable, and to manage the cost of the beta.
- To handle and reply to your feedback and emails.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. We do not currently use your data to train AI models; if that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent again first.
4. Your rights and choices
- Ask what data we hold about you, and receive a copy.
- Ask us to delete data that has been uploaded.
- Ask us to stop uploading run logs. Data on your computer is not affected.
- Withdraw your consent. We will stop collecting from then on; processing that took place before is not affected.
To exercise any of these rights, please email zhifanwang2017@gmail.com and include the version information shown in the app. We will handle your request and reply as soon as we can.
5. Data we collect
The projects, items, notes, events and attachments you create are stored on your own computer. Apart from the cases listed below, we do not read or upload them. During the beta we collect the following:
- AI interaction data: Everything sent to the AI in each exchange when you use the assistant, including what you type, the items and notes relevant to that conversation, and any screen content or attachments you choose to share; the AI's replies; and any items the AI creates, changes or deletes as a result.
- Log data: Records the app produces as it runs, including the actions you take in the app (such as creating, editing or moving items), which features you use, error information, the app version, operating system version and device architecture, and the time, duration and usage of each request. When your device reaches our servers, the servers also record its IP address and the time of the request.
- Activation information: The invite code you used, and a participant ID generated at random for this device when it was activated.
- Information you choose to send: Feedback you submit from the app (your text, screenshots and a recent section of the run log), and emails you send us.
We do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, precise location or payment information through the app, and our servers do not keep any link between a participant ID and who you are.
6. Changes to this policy
If the data we collect or how we use it changes, we will update this policy and its version number. The app will ask you to read and confirm it again the next time you open it, and we will not upload data under the new policy until you do.
